Diamond Bank Plc has said it will fund more entrepreneurs than previously done in its Building Entrepreneur Today programme.
The Head, Emerging Business, Diamond Bank, Chizoba Ihem, in an interview with our correspondent, said the bank discovered that a lot of entrepreneurs had challenges with access to finance, information and insurance.
She said the bank came up with the BET programme as a way of helping entrepreneurs.
Ihem said, “We have seen those that we have trained have come back to give testimonies on what their businesses have turned to after we trained them. The programme is not really about those that have won already but what BET does to them is to change their entire thought process, help shape their business plan, build a process and structures and eke out a proper documentation of their business.
“This is because proper documentation and collateral remain the problems of the Small and Medium Enterprises, thus BET is the starting point of what Diamond Bank does for entrepreneurs and we will do more because we teach them what to do that will, in turn, give them access to finance.”
Ihem noted that the bank had trained 350 people and funded 35 individuals so far.
The Founder, Highrise Orthopaedic, Bayo Ojelabi, a beneficiary of the BET programme, said the programme opened his eyes to a lot of opportunities around him.
